You meet many mediators who even after years of practice, say that they cannot still their minds at all.
They are as restless as they were then they started years before. You hardly see any change in their behavior also.
Why does it happen like that?
There are 2 ways in which you can meditate:
1) You do it for inner growth or
2) You do it mechanically, unaware of the possibility of change where the is hardly any joy and upliftment in this meditation
Look at the 'Ladder of Evolution' and you will appreciate the reasons.
If the sensual X factors is big or if there is extreme lethargy, the motivation to do meditation will be missing.
If one still does it, one must be doing it for some ulterior purpose and not outgrowing one's habit patterns.
However, if there are not many X factors to hold one back, there is a better possibility that meditation will be deep and joyful.
